
During the two-day National Consultation on the Updating of the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (PBSAP) in line with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) held on August 6-7, 2024, in Taal Vista, Tagaytay City, the Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor (EMBC) office presented its “Connectivity Conservation through Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) Establishment in Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor through the BDCor Project.” This initiative underscored innovative approaches to enhancing ecological connectivity and biodiversity conservation.

The presentation highlighted the connectivity of the BD Corridor to biodiversity conservation particularly in the management of CARAGA provinces, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental’s local conservation areas (LCA), Protection and Conservation Area (PCA), and Ecosystem Services Area (ESA), focusing on component 2 of the project, which is the application of integrated network design and management of biodiversity corridors to ensure stability and sustainability of their biological, ecosystem services, and socio-economic conservation areas.
The event was attended by various government agencies, academic institutions, intergovernmental organizations, local government units, private sectors, and development partners.
